Transparent printing was originally developed under Windows 3.1.1 and subsequently used
under Windows 3.1.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. However, some printer
drivers (often those written before the release of Windows 95) do not support transparent
printing. Contact your printer manufacturer to verify that your printer drivers support transparent
printing.
With the release of Windows 95, transparent printing was improved and a new version
subsequently used under Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT. Most printers
manufactured after the release of Windows 95 are shipped with printer drivers that support
transparent printing under Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows.
You must run 16-bit Eterm under Windows 3.1.1 and direct your output to a printer with printer
drivers that support transparent printing. 32-bit Eterm does not function properly under Windows
3.1.1:
• When running 16-bit Eterm under Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT, you must
direct your output to a printer that supports the Windows 3.1.1 version of transparent
printing.
• When running 32-bit Eterm under Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT, you must
direct your output to a printer that supports the Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows
NT version of transparent printing.
Intuit Eclipse recommends that you use 32-bit Eterm where possible, with a Windows 95,
Windows 98, or Windows NT compatible printer.
Problems Connecting to Host When Dialing with a Telephone Credit Card
The dialing process for a telephone credit card differs from the method that Eterm uses by
default to process a dial string. This might cause problems connecting with the host. If you
experience difficulty connecting with the host modem, try adjusting the Step / Then Wait for
delay following the Step / Dial action associated with dialing the destination number.
For example, when dialing a destination number that includes an internal extension (303-555-
1212,,,1234), the normal delay caused by the commas might be longer or shorter when dialing
the number using a telephone credit. Setting a delay interval or increasing the current delay
interval that follows the dialing of the destination number solves this problem.
Resetting a Modem
After logging out of a remote site, enter the +++ath modem command before clicking
Disconnect to force a modem reset and prevent hanging the modem. Eterm responds with OK.
If it does not, repeat the key sequence. Remember to hold down the Shift key while typing + + +
(the characters do not appear on the screen as you type them) and then type a t h and press the
Enter key.
