Troubleshooting Eterm for Windows
Review the following troubleshooting issues if problems arise.
Assigned User Defined Screens Box Appears When Pressing Alt Key
From the Configure > Display Options menu, select Show User Defined Options to set Eterm
to display the names of user-defined options associated with the current screen whenever you
press the Alt key. This is the same as using Alt-F11 to show user-defined options.
Cannot Hear Intuit Eclipse Tunes
First check whether other applications on your computer can play sounds. If not, the problem
might be with your sound system. Check all components of your sound system.
Otherwise, from the Configure > Sounds menu, select how your computer plays the Intuit
Eclipse message alert tune. Make certain that you select either the Windows or PC option.
Characters Print Instead of Lines When Printing Screens
From the Configure menu, select Printing to display the Configure Printing dialog box. From
the Screen Printing area, select Image to draw the screen print on your printer, or Text to send
line drawing characters that correspond to the screen print. To use the Text option, you must
have the appropriate line drawing character set installed on your printer.
Intuit Eclipse Imaging Index Cannot Find Images
By default, Eterm uses C:\Program Files\Intuit Eclipse\Eterm as the Eterm messaging directory.
If you use shortcuts to start Eterm, check that the path specified in the Start In field of the short
cut points to the messaging directory used by the Eclipse add-on product. If your short cut points
to a different directory, or if the add-on product uses a different directory, you need to change
one to match the other.
You install Eterm using its installation program, rather than just copying and replacing the
executable. The installation program creates the appropriate shortcuts to Eterm. After installing
Eterm, remember to restart your computer. This also forces the Eclipse add-on products to restart
and read the correct Windows registry information for the new version of Eterm.
Error Messages When Using Eterm on a Laptop Computer
Some laptop computers produce error messages when the middle mouse button is set to any
option other than Disable. From the Configure menu, select Mouse Buttons to display the
Configure Mouse Buttons dialog box, and select the Disable setting for the middle mouse button.
Eterm Always on Top of Other Applications
From the Configure menu, selecting Display Options and Always on top causes Eterm to
always be visible, even when you run other programs. This change is not saved in the INTUIT
ECLIPSE.INI file and must be set each time you run Eterm.
Getting Out of Full Screen Mode
Use the Alt-Enter key sequence to switch from the full screen scalable font to the previously
selected font size or the default.
