Configuration Options for Eterm for Windows
From the Eterm menu bar, click Configure to display the following configuration options:
Communications
Opens the Configure Communications dialog box, where you can specify how Eterm will
communicate with the host system for modem, serial, and network connections. If Enable
Configuration Password is selected, you must enter the correct password before being able to
make changes.
Communications Port – Select the COM port or network connection type that your
computer uses to connect to the host system. COM ports and serial devices must be
available before Eterm can use them.
Speed – Select the baud rate for the selected communication port. Set the baud rate to
equal the host TTY.
Host – Type in the IP address of the host system, or a valid host system name. The text
box scrolls left to accommodate additional characters.
Connect string – Enter the modem commands, such as ATDT, that you want to use to
connect to the host system with a modem. The text box scrolls left to accommodate
additional characters. Letters following the caret (^) character are read as upper case. Use
the ^M control sequence in a connect string to indicate a carriage return. Refer to the
documentation that came with your modem for valid control characters.
Port – Enter the port number associated with the network proxy. This number is supplied
either by your system administrator, or by arrangements with Intuit Eclipse Support.
ID – Type your system login name in this text box, unless your system administrator
instructs otherwise. When using a network connection, Eterm looks for this value in the
Port column of the System > System Files > Terminal Setup screen to determine the
information used by Eclipse menus and slave printers.
Enable Debug – Select this option to allow you to click Debug from the Eterm menu
bar. Clicking Debug toggles between the normal Eterm terminal emulation screen and a
screen of communication codes. Intuit Eclipse Support personnel use these codes for
diagnostics.
Enable Receive Buffer Dump – Select this option to enable the Received Data option
on the Edit menu to create and open a file that contains the information from the Eterm
debug buffer, minus the data sent to Eclipse. Using this option provides searchable, more
readable buffer data. After selecting this option, enter a file extension, such as txt or doc
in the Rcv Extension field.
Eterm dumps the buffer data into this file type and launches the default application you
have set in Windows for the extension when you use the Received Data command on the
Edit menu.
