Minimum Configuration for Eterm for Windows
The minimum configuration required for Eterm for Windows to operate correctly varies
depending on how your PC is connected to the host.
When Connecting Through a TCP/IP Network Connection
For Eterm for Windows to operate correctly when connecting through a TCP/IP Ethernet
connection, you must have the following options set:
• Communications Port – In the Communications Port field, choose the Network -
Telnet network connection.
• Host – In the Host field, enter either the IP address of the host system or the host name if
using a Hosts file or a Domain Name Server (DNS).
When Connecting Through a TTY Port
For Eterm for Windows to operate correctly when connecting through a TTY port, you must
have the following options set:
• Communications Port – Choose the COM port that your PC uses to connect with the
host system.
• Speed – Set the baud rate equal to that of the host. Intuit Eclipse recommends 19200.
Contact your system administrator for the appropriate setting to use.
• Connect String – Leave this field blank.
When Connecting Through a Modem
For Eterm for Windows to operate correctly when connecting through a modem, you must have
the following options set:
• Communications Port – Choose the COM port that your PC uses to dial out to the host
system.
• Speed – Set the baud rate equal to that of the host computer.
• Connect String – Enter the modem commands and the host modem telephone number
that you want to use to connect. For example, if the telephone number of the host system
is 1-800-555-1234, you might enter ATDT18005551234.
