Installing Eterm for Windows
Intuit Eclipse ships the Eterm for Windows installation program on two diskettes. The
installation program works for Windows 95, Windows 98, 2000, XP or Windows NT computers.
To install Eterm for Windows:
1. Close all other programs before installing Eterm for Windows.
2. Insert the first Eterm for Windows diskette into your floppy drive (usually drive A:).
3. From the Windows taskbar, click Start to display the Start menu.
4. From the Start menu, click Run to display the Run dialog box.
5. In the Open field, type: A:\SETUP and then click OK.
The installation program begins.
6. Follow the instructions as the program displays the prompts. You can accept the defaults
by clicking Next to continue.
Consider the following notes regarding the installation program:
• You can create three different shortcuts to start Eterm.
• The Compact installation will only install the Eterm program (ETERM.EXE). The
installation program warns you of the components that you are not installing when
you select this installation type.
• The Custom installation allows you to select which files you want to install. If you
choose not to install the Eterm font files, Eterm can generate the fonts internally,
although this causes Eterm to run slower.
• The Update installation examines the Windows Registry and only installs new Eterm
components or those Eterm components that have not been installed previously.
Note: Depending on the installation type you select, you might be prompted to
remove the first installation diskette and insert the second diskette during
the installation processes.
7. Click Finish when complete.
You might need to restart your computer to complete the installation process.
If you had an earlier version of Eterm installed on your system in a different folder, you
will need to delete or change any Windows shortcuts that point to the old version.
