Chapter 5:
Eclipse Terminal Emulator
Each Intuit Eclipse customer receives a CD-ROM containing the Intuit Eclipse terminal emulator
software, Eterm for Windows.

Before You Begin
Before installing and configuring Eterm, make certain that your PC is set up correctly for your
network. Refer to “Network Administration” for information on setting up network connections.
Installing and Using Eterm for Windows
Eterm for Windows is meant for those PCs running Windows 95, Windows 98, 2000, XP, ME or
Windows NT.
To install Eterm for Windows, do the following:
Run the installation program to install Eterm on your PC.
Configure Eterm for Windows on the PC so you can connect to your network.
Eterm for Windows contains detailed online help. Click the Help button in dialog boxes or select
Contents from the Help menu.
Installing and Using Eterm for DOS and Dumb Terminals
Eterm for DOS is designed to run under the MS-DOS environment. It is meant for those PCs that
either boot from a floppy diskette (dumb terminals) or that run MS-DOS from their hard drive.
To install Eterm for DOS, do the following:
Make one copy of the Eterm for DOS diskette for each PC that boots from its floppy
diskette.
Modify each boot disk so that it correctly identifies the PC on your network.
Configure Eterm for DOS on the PC so you can connect to your network.
If you copy the Eterm for DOS files onto those computers running MS-DOS from their
hard drives, you will configure Eterm for DOS on the PC so you can connect to your
network.
