Running the System Backup Maintenance Program
Use the System Backup Maintenance program to back up your Eclipse database files.
Schedule the database backup program to run nightly, during a quiet period on the server, when
no order entry transactions or data changes are occurring. Your installer will help you set this up.
Note: For the system backup to work, you must set the control maintenance
records that assign the backup administrator, the backup check time, and
the backup variance percent.

Running the System Backup Maintenance Program
Your installer will help the system administrator use the following procedure to schedule the
database backup program to run nightly. Schedule the backup to run during a quiet period on the
server, when no order entry transactions or data changes are occurring.
To run the system backup maintenance program:
1. From the System > System Programming > System Maintenance menu, select System
Backup Maintenance.
The system displays the Phantom Scheduler screen.
2. Schedule the program to run nightly.
Successful Backup Message
Upon completion of a successful backup, the system sends a message similar to the following
example:
The backup started at 11:50pm on 05/24/2002 completed after 3.76 hours.
9785400 blocks were backed up with a variance of 0.36%.
The message states the date and time the backup started, the duration of the backup, and the
number of blocks backed up. This incorporates the information provided in the /tmp/backup.chk
and /tmp/backup.err files. The variance identifies the change (+/-) in the number of blocks
backed up the previous night.
