Chapter 2:
Site Accountability
Your site is responsible for administering the hardware and software components of the Eclipse
system with help from Eclipse Support. For us to be able to help, you must have a telephone in
the location of your hardware. Further, we ask that you keep this manual, all reference and
installation CDs, and authorizations readily available.
On-Site System Administrator
Intuit Eclipse Support recommends that you have at least one person who is thoroughly familiar
with the site hardware and able to identify all of the hardware components. This person should
be stationed at the same location as the system.
System Administration Responsibilities
The system administrator is responsible for performing the following functions:
• Providing the minimum hardware requirements.
• Rebooting the system.
• Using the UPS and PowerChute software.
• Performing system backups for disaster preparedness, which includes:
• Backing up the operating system (mksysb).
• Backing up the system data (Eclipse backups).
• Maintaining the tapes and drives used for the backups.
Additional system administration responsibilities described in this book include the following:
• Network administration.
• Printers and queues.
• VSI-FAX.
