To assign forms to the printer trays:
1. Change the printer location to which your terminal is assigned to the location to which
you added the new printer as follows:
From the System menu, select Change Location.
At the prompt, select the printer location to which you assigned the new printer.
2. From the System > Printers menu, select Forms Loaded to display the Forms Loaded
screen.
3. Use the Arrow keys to select the printer that you just added and press F10 to display a list
of valid forms available for that printer.
4. Select the appropriate form to load on the printer and press Enter. If there is only one
form loaded, it is automatically displayed when you press F10.
5. Depending on the printer characteristics, the printer may have more than one tray. Load
forms for all available trays.
6. Press Esc until you to return to the System menu.
To add the IP address of the printer to the /etc/hosts file:
1. Display the AIX system prompt (#) in one of the following ways:
Log out of Eclipse and log in to AIX-Unix as root.
The system displays the Welcome to AIX login banner.
From the System menu, select TCL to shell out to the system prompt (#).
Note: Skip the following steps when setting up printers on port 2, 3, or 4 of any
print server device.
2. At the system prompt (#), enter smit hosts to display the Hosts Table.
3. Check that you are not installing a device with a duplicate IP address, as follows:
Select List All Hosts and press Enter to display the IP numbers of the hosts.
Press F3 to return to the previous menu.
4. Add the printer, as follows:
Select Add a Host and press Enter to display the Add a Host Name screen.
In the Internet Address field, enter the IP address for the network printer.
An IP address is a group of four numbers separated by periods, with each number
being from 1 to 254. For example, 199.90.150.101.
In the Host Name field, enter lp# (where # is the number of the printer).
Leave the Alias field blank.
In the Comment field, enter lp# (where # is the number of the printer) or the name of
the printer.
