Operation Manual Lipo Saver

6. Expanded conguration
The following settings can be adjusted on the
LiPo SAVER 2…6S using MULTIPLEX Launcher:
Battery type selection:
Your choice of battery type determines the warning
threshold for absolute low voltage. The gure for LiPo
batteries is 3.1 Volt. MULTIPLEX Launcher contains
information on other battery types.
Changing the early warning threshold:
We recommend that you always set the early warning
threshold to 0.2 Volt per cell above the absolute
low-voltage threshold (LiPo SAVER 2...6S - 60A),
or 0.4 Volt per cell above the absolute low-voltage
threshold (LiPo SAVER 2...6s). The absolute low-
voltage threshold varies according to battery type. If
you are using relatively old or poor-quality batteries it
is advisable to increase this value further.
Activating the overall voltage display:
We recommend that you assign an additional address
for overall battery voltage, as this makes it easier to
differentiate between the alarm displays:
The alarm for the user-variable early warning is gene-
rated at the overall voltage address.
The absolute low-voltage warning continues to be
generated at the individual cell voltage address, albeit
without the “-” prex.
Use of the external current address:
When using the LiPo SAVER 2...6S it is possible to
activate a load-dependent assessment of the low-
voltage warning by entering the address of an external
current sensor for the actual current. This ensures that
sudden changes in load will not trigger “premature”
low-voltage warnings.
The LiPo SAVER 2...6S - 60 A provides the following
additional functions:
Residual capacity display:
The LiPo SAVER 2...6S - 60A provides a form of
electronic fuel gauge. If you enter a battery capacity,
the residual capacity display declines as current is
consumed.
Residual capacity alarm threshold:
At this point you can enter a value for residual capacity
below which the sensor generates an alarm. We
recommend a value of about 20%.
Example:
2000 mAh battery - warning threshold: 400 mAh.
Special feature:
The LiPo SAVER 2...6S - 60A features an intelligent
function which automatically detects and resets residual
capacity.
This works in the following way:
· If the sensor detects a fully charged battery, it
automatically adopts the battery capacity you have
entered, and uses that value as residual capacity.
If the sensor detects a part-charged battery, the detect
function behaves as follows:
· If the sensor detects the same battery as last used,
then it adopts the last stored residual capacity (but
only if the value for current was “0” for ve seconds
before the battery was disconnected).
· If the sensor detects a different battery, then it
calculates the residual capacity based on the lowest
individual cell voltage, and the battery capacity
entered in MULTIPLEX Launcher.
