Do notputhandsandfeet nearrotatingpartsor inthe feedingchambers
anddischargeopening.Contactwiththe rotatingimpellercanamputate
fingers,hands,and feet.
o Beforestartingthe machine,makesurethe chipperchute,feed intake,
andcutting chamberareemptyandfreeof all debris.
o Thoroughlyinspectallmaterialto be shreddedandremoveanymetal,
rocks,bottles,cans,or otherforeignobjectswhichcouldcause personal
injuryor damageto the machine.
o If the impellerstrikesaforeign objector ifyour machineshouldstart
makingan unusualnoiseorvibration,immediatelyshutthe engineoff.
Allowthe impellerto cometo a completestop. Disconnectthespark plug
wire,groundit againsttheengineand performthefollowingsteps:
1.Inspectfor damage.
2. Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.
3. Checkfor anyloosepartsandtightentoassurecontinuedsafe
operation.
o Do notallowanaccumulationofprocessedmaterialto buildupinthe
dischargearea.This canpreventproperdischargeand resultin kickback
of materialthroughthefeed opening.
o Do notattempttoshredor chipmateriallargerthan specifiedonthe
machineor in this manual.Personalinjuryor machinedamagecould
result.
o Neverattemptto unclogeitherthefeedintakeor dischargeopening
whilethe engineis running.Shutthe engineoff, waituntilall moving
partshavestopped,disconnectthe sparkplugwire andgrounditagainst
theenginebeforeclearingdebris.
o Neveroperatewithoutvacuumbag anddischargechuteproperly
attachedtothe machine.Neveremptyor changevacuumbagwhilethe
engineisrunning.Zipperedendof vacuumbagmust bekeptclosedat
alltimes duringoperation.
o Neveroperatewithouteitherthe inletnozzleor optionalhoseattachment
properlyattachedto the machine.Neverattemptto attach orchange
eitherattachmentwhilethe engineis running.
o Keepall guards,deflectorsandsafetydevicesin placeandoperating
properly.
o Keepyourface andbody back andto the sideof thechipperchutewhile
feedingmaterialintothe machineto avoidaccidentalkickback injuries.
o Neveroperatethis machinewithoutgood visibilityor light. Alwaysbe
sureof your footingandkeepa firm holdonthe handles.
o Do notoperatethis machineon a gravelsurface.
o Do notoperatethis machinewhile undertheinfluenceof alcoholor
drugs.
o Mufflerand enginebecomehotand cancausea burn. Donottouch.
o Neverpickupor carrymachinewhilethe engineisrunning.
MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
, Nevertamperwith safetydevices.Checktheir properoperation
regularly.
o Check boltsandscrewsfor propertightnessat frequentintervalsto keep
the machinein safeworkingcondition.Also,visuallyinspectmachinefor
anydamageand repair,if needed.
o Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspecting,stoptheengineand make
certainthe impellerand allmoving parts havestopped.Disconnectthe
spark plugwire andgrounditagainstthe engineto preventunintended
starting.
o Donotchangethe enginegovernorsettingsor overspeedthe engine.
Thegovernorcontrolsthe maximumsafeoperatingspeedof the engine.
o Maintainor replacesafetyand instructionlabels,as necessary.
o Followthis manualfor safeloading,unloading,transporting,and storage
of this machine.
o Neverstorethe machineorfuelcontainerinsidewherethere isanopen
flame,sparkor pilotlightsuch asa water heater,furnace,clothes dryer,
etc.
o Alwaysreferto the operator'smanualfor properinstructionson
off-seasonstorage.
o Ifthe fueltank hasto bedrained,do this outdoors.
o Observeproperdisposallawsand regulationsfor gas, oil,etc. to protect
the environment.
Do not modify engine
Toavoidseriousinjuryor death,do notmodify'enginein anyway.Tampering
withthe governorsettingcanleadto a runawayengineandcauseitto operate
at unsafespeeds.Nevertamperwithfactorysettingof enginegovernor.
