the machineanddisengagethem quickly.
o Neverallowchildrenunder 16yearsoldto operatethis machine.Chil-
dren16years old and overshould readand understandthe operation
instructionsand safetyrulesin this manualand shouldbetrained and
supervisedbya parent.
o Neverallowadultsto operatethis machinewithout properinstruction.
o Keepbystanders,helpers,pets,andchildrenat least75 feet fromthe
machinewhileit isinoperation.Stop machineif anyoneentersthearea.
o Neverrunan engineindoorsor in a poorlyventilatedarea.Engine
exhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,anodorlessanddeadlygas.
o Donot put handsandfeet nearrotatingpartsorin thefeedingchambers
anddischargeopening.Contactwiththe rotatingimpellercan amputate
fingers,hands,andfeet.
o Neverattemptto unclogeitherthefeed intakeor dischargeopening,
removeorempty vacuumbag,or inspectand repairthe machinewhile
theengineis running.Shutthe engineoff andwait untilall movingparts
havecometo acompletestop. Disconnectthe spark plugwire and
groundit againstthe engine.
PREPARAT(ON
Thoroughlyinspectthe areawherethe equipmentisto be used. Remove
all rocks,bottles,cans, orotherforeignobjectswhichcould bepickedup
or thrownandcausepersonalinjuryor damageto the machine.
o Alwayswearsafetyglassesorsafetygogglesduringoperationor while
performinganadjustmentor repair,to protecteyes.Thrownobjects
which ricochetcan causeserious injurytothe eyes.
o Wearsturdy,rough-soledworkshoesandclose-fittingslacksand shirts.
Loosefitting clothesorjewelrycanbe caughtin movableparts. Never
operatethis machinein barefeet or sandals.Wearleatherworkgloves
whenfeedingmaterialinthe chipperchute.
o Beforestarting,checkall boltsandscrewsfor propertightnessto be
sure the machineis in safeworkingcondition.Also,visuallyinspect
machinefor any damageatfrequentintervals.
o Maintainor replacesafetyand instructionslabels,as necessary.
o To avoidpersonalinjuryor propertydamageuseextremecare in
handlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremelyflammable andthevaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycanoccur whengasolineisspilledon
yourselforyour clotheswhichcan ignite.Washyour skinandchange
clothesimmediately.
o Useonly an approvedgasolinecontainer.
o Extinguishall cigarettes,cigars,pipes,and othersourcesof ignition.
o Neverfuel machineindoors.
o Neverremovegas capor addfuelwhilethe engineishot or running.
o Allowenginetocool at least two minutesbeforerefueling.
o Neveroverfillfuel tank.Fill tankto nomorethan 1/2inch belowbottom
of filler neckto providespacefor fuelexpansion.
o Replacegasolinecapandtightensecurely.
o If gasolineisspilled,wipeit offthe engineandequipment.Move
machineto anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingthe engine.
o Neverstorethe machineorfuelcontainer insidewherethere isan open
flame,spark,or pilot light (e.g.furnace,waterheater,spaceheater,
clothesdryer,etc.).
o To reduceafire hazard,keep machinefreeof grass, leaves,or other
debrisbuild-up.Cleanupoil orfuelspillageand removeany fuelsoaked
debris.
o Allowmachineto cool at least5 minutesbeforestoring.
