ElectricStarter
Determinethatyourhome'swiringisathree-wiregroundedsystem.Askakensed
electddanifyouarenotcertain.
If youhaveagroundedthree-prongreceptacle,proceedasfollows:
Theextensioncordcanbeanylength,but must be ratedfor 15 ampsat
125volts, groundedandratedfor outdooruse.
Plugtheextensioncordintotheoutletlocatedontheengine'ssurface.Plugthe
otherendof extensioncordintoathree-prong120-volt,grounded,ACoutletina
well-ventilatedareaSeeFigure11.

2. PushthechokelevertotheCHOKEIJl position.
3. If theengineiswarm,placethechokeinthe RUN1_ I positioninsteadof
CHOKEIJ1.
4. Pushtheprimerthree(3)times,makingsureto covertheventholewhen
pushing.
5. If theengineiswarm,pushtheprimerbuttononlyonce.
6. Pushstarterbuttontostart engine.
7. Oncetheenginestarts,releasestarterbutton.
8. Allowtheengineto warmupseveralminutes,adjustingchoketoward
RUN1_ I position.Waituntilenginerunssmoothlybeforeeachchoke
n
adjustment.
9. Whendisconnectingthe extensioncord,alwaysunplugtheend
at thethree-prongwall outletbeforeunpluggingtheoppositeend
fromthesnowthrower.
RecoilStarter
1. PushthechokelevertotheCHOKEIJI
position.
2. Iftheengineiswarm,placethechokeintheRUN1_ I positioninsteadof
CHOKEIJ1.
3. Pushtheprimerthree(3)times,makingsureto covertheventholewhen
pushing.
4. Iftheengineiswarm,pushtheprimerbuttononlyonce.
5. Grasptherecoilstarterhandleandslowlypulltheropeout.Atthe
pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pulltherope,slowlyallowtherope
to recoil.
6. Pullthestarterhandlewith afirm, rapidstroke.Donotrelease
the handleandallowit tosnapback.Keepafirm holdonthe
starterhandleandallowitto slowlyrecoil.
7. Allowtheengineto warmupseveralminutes,adjustingchoketoward
RUN1_ 1 position.Waituntil enginerunssmoothlybeforeeachchoke
adjustment.
Stopping the Engine
1. Runtheengineforafew minutesbeforestoppingto helpdryoff any
moistureontheengine.
2. Tostoptheengineremovethekeyandstoreit ina safeplace.
3. Wipeallthesnowandmoistureawayfromtheenginecontrolsarea.
Muffler, engineandsurroundingareasbecomehot andcancausea burn.
Becarefulanddo not touchwhen theyare hot.
Engagingthe Auger
Engagetheaugerbysqueezingtheaugercontrolagainstthe upperhandle.Release
thecontrolto stoptheauger.
Engagingthe Drive
Lift upslightlyonthehandleto allowtherubberpaddlesontheaugerto contact
thepavementandpropelthesnowthrowerforward.Pushingdownwardon the
handlewill raisetheaugeroffthegroundandstoptheforwardmotion.
NOTE:Excessiveupwardpressureon thehandlewill resultin premature
wearto therubberaugerpaddles,whichwill notbecoveredbythewarranty.
Clearing a CloggedDischargeChute
Handcontactwith therotatingimpellerinsidethedischargechuteisthemost
commoncauseof injuryassociatedwith snowthrowers.Neveruseyourhandto
cleanoutthedischargechute.
Toclearthechute:
1. SHUTTHEENGINEOFF!
2. Wait10secondsto besurethe impellerbladeshavestoppedrotating.
3. Alwaysuseaclean-outtoolorstick,notyourhands.
