If thecuttingedgeof the bladehaspreviouslybeensharpened,or if
anymetalseparationis present,replacethe bladeswithnewones.
A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessivevibration,maycause
damageto the tractorand/orresultinpersonalinjury.
5. Testtheblade'sbalanceusing a bladebalancer.Grindmetal
fromthe heavysideuntilit balancesevenly.
NOTE: Whenreplacingthe blade,besureto installthe bladewiththe
sideof theblademarked"Bottom"(orwitha part numberstampedin
it) facingthe groundwhenthe mowerisin theoperatingposition.
Useatorquewrenchto tightenthe bladespindlehex flangenutto
between70 Ibsiftand90 Ibsift.
ADJUSTMENTS
Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhilethe engineis running,
exceptwherespecifiedinthe operator'smanual.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE: Checkthe tractor'stire pressurebeforeperformingany deck
levelingadjustments.RefertoTires,inthis ServiceAndMaintenance
sectionfor moreinformationregardingtire pressure.
Front To Rear
Itis possibletoadjustthepitchof the cuttingdeck.The frontof the
deckshouldbe between0" (level)and K" lowerthanthe rearof the
deck. Adjustif necessaryasfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm, levelsurface,placethe leverfor
liftingthe cuttingdeckintothemiddleposition(3)and rotatethe
bladeso thatit is alignedwiththe frontand rearof the tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe frontof the bladetip to the ground
andthe rearof the bladetip to theground.Thefirst measurement
takenshouldbe between0" (level)andK" lessthanthe second
measurement.Determinethe approximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,if necessary,to thenextstep.
3. Locatethe flangelocknut onthe frontendof the PTOLift Rod.
See Fig.39.
Tightentheflangelocknut to raisethe frontof the deck;
Loosentheflangelock nutto lowerthe frontof thedeck.

Steering Adjustment
Ifthe tractorturnstighterinonedirectionthanthe other,or ifthe front
tie rod is beingreplaceddueto damageor wear,the steeringneedsto
be adjusted.
To Adjust the toe in/out of the front wheels:
1. Removethe bow-tieclip securingthe tie-rodferruleto the right
frontaxle assembly,anddropthetie-roddownto adjust.See Fig.
40.
