Checkthatthe sparkplugwasheris ingoodconditionandthread
the sparkplugin by handto preventcross-threading.
Afterthesparkplugis seated,tightenwitha sparkplugwrenchto
compressthewasher.
NOTE: Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten1/2turnafter
the sparkplugseatstocompressthe washer.Whenreinstallinga
usedsparkplug,tighten1/8-1/4turnafterthe sparkplugseatsto
compressthewasher.
IMPORTANT: The sparkplugmustbe securelytightened.An
improperlytightenedsparkplugcan becomeveryhotand may
damagethe engine.
Fuel Filter Service
Gasolineanditsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.Fire
or explosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
Keepgasolineawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights,heat,
andotherignitionsources.
Checkfuellines,tank,cap,andfittingsfrequentlyfor cracksor
leaks.Replaceif necessary.
Beforereplacingthefuel filter,drainthe fueltankas inToDrain
the Fuel.
Donotdrainfuel whentheengineishot.Allowtheengine
adequatetimeto cool. Drainfuel intoan approvedcontainer
outdoors,awayfromopenflame.
Drainanylargevolumeof fuelfromthe tankby disconnectingthe
fuellinefromthe in-linefuel filterneartheengine.
Removethefuellinefromthe In-lineside (sidetowardsthefuel
tank)of thefuel filter.
Replacementpartsmustbethe sameandinstalledinthe same
positionas the originalparts.
If fuelspills,waituntil itevaporatesbeforestartingengine.
Beforereplacingthefuel filter,drainthe fueltank. Otherwise,fuel
can leakoutand causea fireor explosion.
To DrainThe Fuel:
1. Locatethe fuelfilter,whichisroutedontheleftsideof theengine
betweenthefuel tankandthecarburetor,andmaybeattachedto
the enginewitha tie strap.Cutthe tie strap,ifpresent,thenpinch
the in-lineclamponthe fuelfilterwitha pairofpliers,slidethe
clampupthe fuelline.Pullthefuel linefreefromthe filterandplace
the openendofthelineintoanapprovedcontainerto drainthe fuel.
To ChangeThe FuelFilter:
2. Usepliersto squeezethetabson the otherclamp(the out-line
sideof thefuelfilter),and slidetheclampawayfromthefuelfilter.
Twistandpullthe fuel lineoffof the fuel filter.SeeFig.30.
3. Checkthefuel linesforcracksorleaks.Replaceifnecessary.
4. Replacethefuelfilterwithanoriginalequipmentreplacementfilter.

Securethe fuellineswiththe clamps.

The fuelfiltercannotbecleanedandshouldbe replacedevery100
operatinghours;moreoftenif runwitholdgasoline.

Clean Engine
Iftheenginehasbeenrunning,allowit tocoolforat leasthalfanhour
beforecleaning.Periodicallyremovedirtbuild-upfromengine.Cleanthe
enginecoolingfinsevery25hours.Cleanwitha brushor compressed
air.
IMPORTANT: Do notsprayenginewithwaterto cleanbecausewa-
ter couldcontaminatefuel. Usinga gardenhoseor pressurewashing
equipmentcanalsoforcewaterinto theair cleaneror muffleropening.
Waterin the aircleanerwill soakthe paperelement,andwaterthat
passesthroughthe elementor mufflercanenterthe cylinder,causing
damage.
Accumulationofdebrisaroundmufflercouldcausea fire.Inspectand
cleanbeforeeveryuse.
