INSTALLATION
LEDGER PANELS
• Appropriate Substrates: Install panels over a scratch coat as
described in the BSI Adhered Natural Stone Installation Guide.
If a cementitious backer unit (CBU) is used as the substrate,
refer to CBU manufacturer’s installation instructions to determine
suitability, fastening and seam preparation requirements.
• Mortars: Prepackaged mortars meeting or exceeding the
requirements of ANSI A118.15 such as CUSTOM Building
Products’ Pro-Lite.
• All panels must be back-buttered prior to setting to
ensure complete coverage
• Sealers: For best performance, natural stones should be sealed
using a penetrating sealer such as Miracle’s 511 Impregnator.
• Exterior stone installations higher than 15 feet require mechanical
fastening in accordance with Marble Institute of America’s
Dimension Stone Design Manual which can be found at
http://www.stonesofnorthamerica.com/technical/dsdm.cfm.

MSI Natural Stacked Stone panels are natural stone pieces
adhered to each other and formed into a stepped panel for easier
site installation. Each panel weighs between 7-10 lbs. and meets
the denition of Adhered Masonry Veneer as dened by the
International Building Code. Therefore, no ICC-ES report is available.
Natural Stacked Stone panels should be installed in accordance with
generally accepted installation practices of natural stone veneers
which can be found in the following documents:

In addition to the above installation guidelines MSI requires the
following:
• A water-resistive barrier must be appropriately installed with
penetration and junction ashing in accordance with local
building code requirements. MSI will assume no responsibility for
water inltration.
