1. Removetheexistingdistributor capwithout 
disconnecting  any of  the  spark plug 
wires.
2. Withthecapoff,cranktheengineuntil the 
rotoris aimedatafixedpointontheengine 
or firewall. Note this position bymaking a 
mark(Figure8).
3. Place  the distributor  cap  back  on and 
note which plug wirethe rotor ispointing 
to. MARK THE SPARKPLUG WIRES and 
remove the distributor cap.
4. Disco n ne c t the wi rin g fro m the 
distributor.
5. Loosen the distributor hold down clamp 
and slide the clamp out of the way.  
6. Lift the distributor out of th e engine. 
Note that the rotor rotates  as you lift 
the  distributor  out. This is  due to  the 
helical cut gear and should be takeninto 
considerat ion  when  installing  the new 
distributor.
7. Install the ga sket and apply a liberal 
amount of the supplied lubricant to the 
distributor  gear.  (The  supplied O-rings 
can onlybe used if the block has been 
modified as shown in Figure 9.)
8. Installthe distributor making  sure thatthe 
rotorcomes torestpointingatthefixed 
mark.If thedistributorwillnot fullyseatwith 
the rotor pointing to the  marked position, 
you mayneed to rotate theoil pumpshaft 
untiltherotorlinesupand thedistributor 
fullyseats. 
9. Position andtightenthe holddown clamp 
ontothe distributor.

10.Installthedistributorcap andsparkplugwires oneatatimetoensure correctlocation.
