1. Removethe existingdistributorcapwithout 
disconnecting anyofthe spark plug wires.
2. With the capoff,crank the engineuntilthe 
rotorisaimed at afixedpointontheengineor 
rewall. Note thispositionbymakinga mark 
(Figure 8).
3. Placethedistributorcapback on andnote 
whichplugwire therotorispointing to.MARK 
THESPARK PLUG WIRESandremove the 
distributorcap.
4. Disconnect the wiringfromthe distributor.
5. Loosen the distributor hold down clamp and 
slidethe clamp out of theway. 
6. Lift thedistributoroutoftheengine.Note that 
the rotor rotatesas youliftthe distributor out. 
This is due to the helicalcut gearandshould 
betakenintoconsiderationwheninstallingthe 
new distributor.
7. Installthegasketand applyaliberalamountof 
the supplied lubricant to the distributorgear.
8. Install the distributor making surethat the 
rotorcomestorest pointingatthexedmark. 
If thedistributorwillnotfullyseat with therotor 
pointing to the  markedposition,you may 
need torotatetheoil pumpshaftuntiltherotor 
linesup and thedistributor fully seats. 
9. Position andtightenthe holddown clamponto 
the distributor. 
10.Installthedistributor capandsparkplugwires 
one at a timeto ensure correct location. A 
wire retainer issuppliedto secure thewires 
in place. Align the mounting bossesand use 
the supplied 1.5" self-tapping Phillips screws 
to holdthe retainer in place.

INSTALLING THE DISTRIBUTOR

Installation Option: This Cap can als o be 
bolted down to  an MSD  Pro-Billet or  Billet 
Distributor base with the supplied hardware. 
To accomplish this, the spring clips must be 
cut off (Figure 9).
Note: When the cap is bolted down, the 
location of the spark plug wires must 
be changed.
