Overtimewithheavyuse,thepresstoolcomponents/partswillwear,affectingthePress‐Force.Ifthetool
cannotbeadjustedtoreachtherequiredPress‐Forceofabout33pdf(poundforce),orthepressjawsdonot
completelycloseanymore,thepresstoolshouldbediscarded.
Thispresstoolhassuccessfullygonethrough5000testcycles.Duringthistest,allnecessaryadjustmentswere
madeonthepresstool,butwithoutreplacinganyofthepresstoolparts/components.
Section8.Careandmaintenance
A)Whenthetoolisnotinuse,itshouldbestoredineitherofthefollowingways:
• Withinsertsmounted;leavetoolopen.Removethehandleextensionsandprotectthethreads.
• Withinsertsremoved;closethetool.Removethehandleextensionsandprotectthethreads.
B)Thepresstoolshouldbemaintainedperiodicallybycleaningandaddinglubricationoiltopins
orscrewsatthefollowingspecifiedlocationsatleastonceeverymonth.
C)Keepinsertsclean.
D)Makesurethethreadsonhandleextensionsarekeptcleanandfreefromdamage.Ananti‐corrosion
agent(suchasWD40)shouldbesprayedontothethreadsperiodically.
E)Adjustmentscrewsandpinsshouldbeperiodicallytakenoff,cleanedandlubricated.
