MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1. Theheatershouldbeinspectedbeforeeachuse,andatleast
annuallybyaqualifiedperson.
2. Beforeeachuse,checkthesoft"O"ringsealatthebullnose
ofthePOLfitting.Ifthe"O"ringiscut,scuffed,orotherwise
damaged,replaceitwithpartnumber73786.
3. TurnoffthegasattheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)whenthe
heaterisnotinuse.
4. Whentheheateristobestoredindoors,theconnection
betweentheLP-gassupplycylinder(s)andtheheatermust
bedisconnectedandthecylinder(s)removedfromtheheater
andstoredoutofdoorsandinaccordancewithChapter5of
thestandardforStorageandHandlingofLiquefiedPetroleum
GasesANSI/NFPA58andCSAB149.1,NaturalGasand
PropaneInstallationCode.
SERVICING
Ahazardousconditionmayresultifaheaterisusedthathas
beenmodifiedorisnotfunctioningproperly.Whentheheateris
workingproperly:
• Theflameiscontainedwithintheheater.
• Theflameisessentiallybluewithperhapssomeyellowtipping.
• Thereisnostrongdisagreeableodor,eyeburningorother
physicaldiscomfort.
• Thereisnosmokeorsootinternalorexternaltotheheater.
• Therearenounplannedorunexplainedshutdownsofthe
heater.
Thepartslistsandwiringdiagramshowtheheaterasitwas
constructed.Donotuseaheaterwhichisdifferentfromthat
shown.Inthisregard,useonlythehose,regulatorandcylinder
connectionfitting(calledaPOLfitting)suppliedwiththeheater.
IMPORTANTMatchthecolorstripeonthehangtagattachedto
thehoseassemblywiththecoloronthelabellocatednearthe
propaneinletfittingontheheater.Donotusealternates.Forthis
heater,theregulatormustbesetasshownin"specifications".
Ifthereisanyuncertaintyabouttheregulatorsetting,haveit
checked.
Aheaterwhichisnotworkingrightmustberepaired,butonlybya
trained,experiencedserviceperson.
In-warrantyproductswillberepairedwithnochargeforeither
partsorlabor.Pleaseincludeabriefstatementindicatingdate,
placeofpurchase,thenatureoftheproblemandproofof
purchase.
Out-of-warrrantyproductswillberepairedwithachargeforparts
andlabor.
HEATER ELEVATION ADJUSTMENT
This heater is equipped with an elevation adjustment panel
located at the exhaust end of the control box.
1. Do not adjust the heater combustion tube elevation while
heater is running or hot. Adjustments to elevation should
only be made after the heater has cooled to touch.
2. To adjust the heater combustion tube elevation, turn the
adjustment screw knob counterclockwise and lift the
combustion tube to desired position.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARING FOR OPERATION
1. Checktheheaterforpossibleshippingdamage.Ifanyis
found,immediatelynotifythefactory.
2. Followallofthe"Precautions".
3. ConnectthePOLfittingofhoseandregulatorassemblytothe
propanecylinderbyrotatingthePOLnutcounterclockwise
intothepropanecylinder'svalveoutletandsecurelytighten
withawrench.
4. Connectthehosetotheheaterbyrotatingthehosefitting
clockwise.
5. Securelytightenallgasconnections.
6. Openthecylinder'sgasvalveandcheckallgasconnections
withasoapandwatersolution.DONOTUSEAFLAME.
7. Connectpowercordtowell-grounded115V,60Hz,1Ø
sourceofpower.
8. Whenusinganextensioncord,makecertainthatitisa3-wire
(grounded)cordofproperwiresize.
START
1. Beforeheaterignition,alwaysallowheaterfan(blower)torun
for20secondstopurgefuel.
2. Slowlyopenthemainvalveatpropanecylinder.
3. Depressthefuelvalvebuttontolighttheheater.
4. Aftertheheaterlights,keepthegasvalvebuttondepressed
for15secondsthenreleaseandtheheaterwillcontinueto
operate.
5. Adjustburnratebysettingcontrolknobtodesiredlevel.
6. Ignitercontinuestofireaslongaspowercordispluggedin.
a)Ignitersparkscontinually.
7. Nothermostatusablewiththeseunits.
STOP
1. Securelyclosevalveonthepropanecylinder.
2. Continuetooperateheateruntilallfuelinthehosehas
burned.
3. Unplugthepowercord.
RESTART AFTER SAFETY SHUTDOWN
1. Securelyclosevalveatpropanecylinder.Unplugheater.
2. Wait5minutes.
3. Restartfollowing"Start"procedure.
