PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE
The ETERNUS DX400 S2 is designed for the midrange storage market with two models available, the DX410
S2 and DX440 S2. Both models are available as rack mount or mounted in Fujitsu racks and support a wide
range of configuration options to meet performance, capacity and connectivity requirements.
The base unit for the ETERNUS DX410 S2 contains one controller enclosure and up to eight (8) drives
enclosures, which will house up to 120 disk drives. The expansion rack contains from 2 to 10 drive enclosures
and will house up to 150 disk drives. A maximum configuration is one expansion rack for the Model DX410 S2
and two expansion racks for the Model DX440 S2. The maximum number of drives for Model DX410 S2 is 480
and for the Model DX440 S2 is 960 disk drives.
The drive interface between the controller and the disk shelves is 6 Gb SAS, using pairs (1 for each CM) of
quad port, QSFP connectors.
Figures 2 and 3 illustrate the Models 410 and 440 along with their respective topologies.
