performance. Based on past performance, Evaluator Group expects the new systems to perform very
well under a variety of workloads and use cases.
Finally, the three year warranty is among the industry’s best offering for entry level systems. At a time
when most competitors are reducing their warranties to 1 or 2 years, the 3 year Fujitsu warranty will
provide peace of mind and cost savings over the life of the product.
Perceived Challenges:
There are only a few issues which should provide any pause for potential users of the ETERNUS
DX400 S2. As with many items, the lack of a feature may not be applicable for all environments.
Challenges remain for Fujitsu by way of securing big name distributors, or a large OEM contract.
Fujitsu continues to build their direct sales channel and add to their sales and SE force around the
world this certainly is a costly effort, but may be paying off for Fujitsu as they are slowly gaining
more credibility with users and continuing to build their brand name in the storage market.
In addition to Fujitsu’s solid block offerings, they also partner with both NetApp and Symantec in
various geographies to deliver a highly effective NAS solution. However, competitors offering similar
bundles will present challenges for Fujitsu to show levels of integration and end-to-end management
above the level of their competitors.
Finally, an issue that may be problematic for larger environments is the limited number of Fujitsu
personnel available to provide consulting services for their product offering. While Fujitsu has a good
presence throughout the world and significant storage expertise, their service offerings are not as
diverse or broad as their tier 1 competition, including EMC, HP and IBM.
