■ Using the Necklace Earphones █ Connecting the Necklace Earphones Connect the connection clip so that it goes into the indention. Inserting the connection clip safely holds the earphones so that they don’t fall out when you wear the necklace earphones. 12 Downloaded from ManualMPlayer.com Manuals When you want to make the strap shorter, hold the necklace strap in the direction of the arrow as in the figure.
■ Recharging █ About the Internal Rechargeable Battery If the charge is insufficient, the low battery message appears on the LCD window, and you must charge the battery. When you turn on and off, connect the product to the USB port on the computer with the USB connector as in the figure. Getting Started █ Charging the battery while the power is on/off ● Battery can be charged at any time but we recommend the battery to be fully charged before use.
■ Connecting to a PC █ System Requirement Insert the Installation CD into the CD-ROM Drive. The installation will auto-start and the installation will begin as shown in right. If the installation doesn’t auto-start, double-click the CD-ROM icon in Windows Explorer. ● Macintosh System: USB Interface 2.0, Standard device and a CD-ROM Drive equipped Ex.
■ Connecting to a PC After selecting [FL400], click the [Next] button. Click the [Install] button to install the selected utilities in order. Click the [Next] buton. All the utility programs will be installed. The user can select the programs needed to install. But, the following items must be installed.
■ Connecting to a PC ■ Installing USB Driver Manually Please refer to the below only if the device is not plugged with Windows 98/98SE. █ Connect with a USB Connector As in the figure, connect the product to the USB connection port on the computer with the USB connector. ■ Removing USB connector while initializing when you install the USB driver or executing a command may cause malfunctioning of the computer.
■ Installing USB Driver Manually ■ Using a Removable Disk █ File Download / Upload / Delete Insert the CD included in the package into the CD-ROM, check “CD-ROM DRIVE” and click the [Next] button. You can connect the product to the PC with the USB connector while the product is on or off. ■ If connected, a connection icon will appear in the LCD screen. Connection When the driver installation is completed, an “Installation complete” window will appear on the screen. Then, click the [Finish] button.
■ Using a Removable Disk Drag & Drop: Select the data store, click and hold down the left mouse button to drag the files into the Removable Disk drive, and then release the left mouse button. █ Disconnecting the USB Connection It is recommended that you follow these directions for separating the device from the PC safely. If these instructions are not followed, it may result in data damage or product malfunction.
■ Basic Operation █ Searching for The Desired Section During Playback █ To Play Music (Turning Power ON) During play, hold down the / button to find the part you want to listen to. When you remove your hand from the pressed button, it plays automatically. Navigation screen will appear by pressing longer button after turning the player on with a logo screen. Select file you wish to playback. Press the button to play music.
■ Changing Modes ■ Voice Recording Hold down the MENU button during music playback. Hold down the MENU button during music pausing. ■ You cannot voice record while music is playing. Press the / button after selecting the Mode with the button. Press the / button after selecting the Mode with the button. After selecting the desired mode (Music ↔ Radio) with the / button, change the mode by pressing the button.
■ Using the Navigation ■ Listening to the Radio You can search for the desired file or folder easily using the navigation. The earphones work as an antenna, so please connect them before using. First see page 28, then switch to Radio mode. During playback or pausing, if you press the MENU button it moves to navigation mode. █ Manually Searching the Frequency (Scan mode) ■ The file list screen comes up on the LCD window. If you press the / button, you can change to the desired frequency.
■ Listening to the Radio ■ Radio Recording █ Changing a saved frequency You can change an already saved channel to another frequency. ■ At a new frequency, if you press the MENU button, the save channel screen appears. Press the button after selecting the saved channel number. While listening to the radio, hold down the MENU button. ■ Menu Operation ■ Setting the Menu [Volume Settings] █ Saving the settings █ Setting EQ ■ You can change the settings with the / button; save the settings with the button. After saving the settings, move to the previous menu. ■ If you press the MENU button, you cannot save the settings, you will leave the screen. Comprised of Natural Headphone, 3D Stereo, PCE, and Vi.B.E, and the selected 3D Sound effects apply to the applicable sound. Sound Effect Off Pure Studio ■ Please select Sound Effects from the menu.

On: You can delete an already saved channel and save the frequency that can be received in order. You can set the receiving broadband of the radio to receive.
■ Setting the Menu [System Settings] █ Setting AutoPlay You can set a file to Auto Play. ■ Please select Auto Play from the System menu. ■ Off: When you turn the device on, the navigation screen appears, and if you press the button, it plays music. On: When you turn the device on, the music automatically plays. █ Setting File Information System Auto Play A↔B Auto Play Off On Set information for music files to be displayed on the LCD. ■ Please select File Info from the System menu.
■ Setting the Menu [System Settings] █ Setting Fade In When a file is in play, you can set it so that the volume slowly rises. ■ Select Fade In settings from the System menu. ■ Off: When the file starts playing again, it plays with the set volume. On: When the file is in play, the introduction of the volume gradually rises as it plays. █ Setting Auto Power Off System Resume Fade In System Sleep Auto Power Off ■ Please select Auto Power Off from the System menu.
■ Setting the Menu [System Settings] █ Setting Contrast You can set up the contrast of the LCD window. ■ Please select Contrast from the System menu. Note ● You can set up the contrast from 1~3. █ Setting the Time & Date System Backlight Contrast Contrast Level 2 It sets the current date and time. ■ Please select Time & Date from the System menu. ■ /: Adjusts setting. System Language Time & Date ■ : Moves to next setting and save all settings for year, month, day, hour, minute, etc.
■ Setting the Menu [System Settings] ■ Formatting You can format FL400 from a Windows PC using MPIO Utility. █ Checking Information You can view the firmware version that is saved on the system, the memory size in use, and the total memory size. System Alarm Info ■ Please select Info from the System menu. You can confirm the system’s information. Info Turn on the device and connect the device to the computer with the USB connector. Double-click MPIO Utility icon in your desktop.
■ Formatting When formatting is complete, click the [OK] button. Follow the instructions when formatting FL400 using a Windows PC without MPIO Utility. Using MPIO Utility is recommended for formatting the device. Click the [Close] button. Select the Removable Disc icon. Click your right mouse button and select “Format”. Click the [Start] button. Click the [OK] button after the “Safely Remove Hardware” message appears as shown.
■ Storing Default Settings ■ Upgrading Firmware When FL400 has been formatted using the Windows FORMAT Command (FAT or FAT16), the default settings must be restored using MPIO Utility’s Setup Config function. The files in FL400 will be lost after upgrading firmware. See page 17 [Installing the software] for information on how to install MPIO Utility. Turn the power of FL400 ON and connect it to a computer using a USB connector. Download the firmware from MPIO web site and save it on the PC. (www.mpio.
■ Upgrading Firmware Click the [OK] button after the Hardware Safely Removed message appears as shown. After clicking the [ OK ] button, the first part of firmware upgrade is complete. █ Upgrading Firmware in Macintosh The files in FL400 will be lost after upgrading firmware. Download the firmware upgrade for Macintosh at MPIO web site, uncompress it and save it on the computer. (www.mpio.com) Turn the power of FL400 ON and connect it to a computer using a USB connector.
■ Troubleshooting I cannot turn on the player. I can hear noise and cannot set the broadcasting channel when I listen to the radio. ■ When the battery is used up, the device will not turn on. Charge, and then turn on device. ■ Your player may be influenced by the neighboring electrical device. Secure enough distance. ■ The earphone plays a role of an antenna when listening to the radio. Therefore, reception sensitivity can be deteriorated if you don’t use an earphone.
