In public transportation systems, the ticketing system plays
a very important role. Huge numbers of citizens need to
purchase tickets in order to commute rapidly in an urban
area. The requirements of the ticketing system in public
transportation systems are reliability and intelligence. In
the past, the ticketing system was a standalone machine
and always needed a human being to check the status of
operation. Nowadays, MOXA’s embedded computers, such
as UC-7420, can function as the front-end controller of
ticketing machines. Price display LCM, receipt printer, control
buttons, and coin sensors can be connected to UC-7420.
During operation, the UC-7420 can also keep a log history on
the CF card. The central office can retrieve sales records and
status alarms instantly over the Internet, making it convenient
for administrators to monitor the system remotely. A human
need not make frequent checks, which can lower the cost of
operation and management.
