ever, if you did not enter the correct password, you can still map the
ports to your NT, but you will not have access to the ports. You will
need to ask your administrator to add your IP address to the access
control list of the server to grant you access. If you are not sure of the
IP address of the host you want to add, run “ipconfig” from the host’s
NT MS-DOS prompt.
.Note: If you want to allow the ports to be accessed by all users, simply
empty the access control list.
To grant access, you must first enter the Access Control Page:
1. Run NPort
Express
Manager.
2. Click on the
server you
want to
modify.
3. Click on the toolbar Server Properties icon.
4. Select the Access Control tab.
5. The screen will show a list of ports, and two methods of adding
permission.
When adding access permission, you may either view the access con-
trol list by Port, or by IP address. These two approaches also apply
to the procedure for adding new hosts. The next two sections describe
how to add hosts using both approaches.
Configuring Through View by IP Address
Using the view access control list by IP address option displays the
access control list by giving the server IP addresses. It is clear to see
which IP addresses have been granted access to which ports, and
which IP addresses are allowed onto the server.
Adding Access Permission to One Host
If a particular host is permitted access to all ports on a specific server,
we recommend that you configure using the view access control list
by IP address option.
