Active Ethernet I/O can be used for automatic
notification of I/O events by e-mail. Messages
are completely customizable and can include
dynamic fields such as I/O status or current
time. This can be used for simple recordkeeping
or for instant notification of special problems,
such as a power outage or threshold breach.
An Active Ethernet I/O server can be used for
simple output control that is triggered by input
status, without a PC controller. For example,
a door sensor can be configured to trigger an
alarm. Configuration is done through simple
If/Then statements, and no programming is
required.

The MXIO library allows Active Ethernet I/O to
be used across all major platforms. Sensors and
switches can be accessed over Ethernet from
within user-developed software, for the ultimate
in customized management.
With Active Ethernet I/O, input signals can be
easily extended over Ethernet from one server
to another, without programming or a separate
controller. The ubiquity and flexibility of Ethernet
makes this a very powerful way to increase the
range of input signals for remote control and
monitoring applications. Using Active Ethernet
I/O for signal extension also reduces wiring
costs, eliminates signal degradation problems,
and provides a solution for areas where physical
access is limited or difficult.
