- Do not use the appliance if it is not working
correctly or if it has been damaged. Under
no circumstances should you dismantle the
kettle.
- Any operation other than normal cleaning
and servicing by the customer should be
effected by a Moulinex approved service
centre.
- The guarantee covers manufacturing faults
and domestic use only. Any breakage or
damage resulting from failure to comply with
the operating instructions will not be covered
by the guarantee.
- Do not leave the appliance within the reach
of children. The use of this appliance by
children or handicapped people should be
avoided unless under supervision.
- Never move the kettle when it is working.
- Do not use the kettle when your hands are
wet or your feet are bare.
Use
- Before first use, rinse the inside of your
kettle, and boil and empty it once or twice.
- Place your kettle, or the base, on a stable
surface.
- With the kettle disconnected or removed
from its base, fill it through the pouring lip or
via the open lid, to between the min and max
marks.
- Close the lid, and connect the kettle or place
it on its base.
- For the FLA1 ,BAB1, BY4001, BY4011 , and
BY1001 models:
Press the off switch to lock/unlock the lid.
Automatic locking is indicated by a “click” and
the return of the switch.
- Connect to the mains.
- Switch on by setting the switch to “I” .
- The kettle stops automatically as soon as
the water boils. Make sure that the kettle is
switched off before removing it from its base.
- You can also switch the kettle off at any time
during the heating process by setting the
switch to “0”.
- Empty the water from your kettle completely
after each use.
Cleaning
To clean your kettle :
- Disconnect it or remove it from its base.
- Leave it to cool, and then clean it with a damp
sponge.

To clean the filter (depends on the model):
- Clean the filter regularly. Rinse it in clean
running water and using a soft, non-metallic
brush if needed.
De-scaling
- Descale your kettle regularly.
- Use:
1) a descaler specifically intended for PLAS-
TIC kettles. Follow the manufacturer’s ins-
tructions closely.
2) or commercial white vinegar at 8°.
Pour 1/2 l of vinegar into the kettle. Leave it
to work for one hour without heating. Empty
your kettle then rinse it four or five times.
3) or citric acid. Boil 0.5 l of water. Add 25 g of
citric acid. Leave it to work for 15 minutes.
Empty your kettle then rinse it four or five
times.
- Repeat if necessary.
- If you are using citric acid, always dilute it
with water.
- Never descale your kettle when it is
empty.
- Before using again, rinse with cold water then
boil (max level) and discard the water twice
without drinking it.
In the event of a problem
- Check :
. the connection.
. that the kettle is correctly positioned on its
base.
. that the switch is set to “I”.
. that the kettle has not operated without
water.
FLA1, FLB1, BAB1, BY4001, BY4011 and
BY1001 models: fill the appliance with cold
water, take the kettle off its base and put it
back again so as to reset the automatic cut-
off system.
Other models: fill the appliance with cold
water, wait for 1 minute, then try again.
- If your appliance works only intermittently
before the boiling point or stops before reaching
the boiling point, it is probably scaled up.
If your appliance is still not working, con-
tact a Moulinex approved service centre (see
list in the “Moulinex Service” booklet).
