PRESETS

LIVE RECORDING

Choose the Live recording preset when you are

tracking in the studio. The setup is pretty much the

same as for the “Interface + mixer” preset shown in

Figure 5-3 on page 50, except that aux busses are

routed to the 8D’s outs (in consecutive pairs) for

independent monitor mixes. All physical inputs on

the interface are routed to both the computer (for

recording) and the Main Mix and Monitor busses

in the mixer (for near-zero latency monitoring).

USB channels from the computer are included in

the 8D’s mix, so that individual musicians can hear

computer tracks in their monitor mix and control

the levels of individual tracks in their personal mix.

AVB EXPANSION

Use the AVB Expansion preset when you want to

connect the inputs and outputs on the 8D to other

devices over Ethernet cabling. This preset routes all

inputs and outputs on the 8D interface to an

8-channel AVB network stream in the routing grid,

which is then broadcast to any/all other devices on

the same AVB Ethernet network. Network channels

1-2 are also routed to the headphone output.

AES3 < > S/PDIF CONVERTER

Choose the AES3 < > S/PDIF Converter preset

when you wish to convert digital audio from one

format to the other. All four AES3 inputs are routed

to their corresponding S/PDIF outputs (input

channels 1-2 go to output channels 1-2, etc.) and

vice versa. In addition, all inputs are mixed to the

headphone output for conﬁdence monitoring.
