Read this information before using your mobile device.* Safety Information Exposure to Radio Frequency (RF) Energy Your mobile device contains a transmitter and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and transmits RF energy. When you communicate with your mobile device, the system handling your call controls the power level at which your mobile device transmits.
Product Operation When placing or receiving a phone call, hold your mobile device just like you would a landline phone. If you wear the mobile device on your body, always place the mobile device in a Motorola-supplied or approved clip, holder, holster, case, or body harness. If you do not use a body-worn accessory supplied or approved by Motorola, keep the mobile device and its antenna at least 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) from your body when transmitting.
Hearing Aids Operational Warnings Some mobile devices may interfere with some hearing aids. In the event of such interference, you may want to consult your hearing aid manufacturer or physician to discuss alternatives. Obey all posted signs when using mobile devices in public areas, such as health care facilities or blasting areas.
Batteries and Chargers If jewelry, keys, beaded chains, or other conductive materials touch exposed battery terminals, this could complete an electrical circuit (short circuit), become very hot, and could cause damage or injury. battery charging battery tips New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you can use your phone, install and charge the battery as shown in the battery installation and battery charging sections. Some batteries perform best after several full charge/ discharge cycles. Battery life depends on the network, signal strength, temperature, features, and accessories you use.
• Never expose batteries to temperatures below -10°C (14°F) or above 45°C (113°F). Always take your phone with you when you leave your vehicle. • It is normal for batteries to gradually wear down and require longer charging times. If you notice a change in your battery life, it is probably time to purchase a new battery. Contact your local recycling center for proper battery disposal. Warning: Never dispose of batteries in a fire because they may explode.
make a call correcting entry errors From the home screen, enter a phone number (up to 32 digits) and press N. To correct a misdialed digit, press D to erase one digit at a time. To erase all digits at once, press and hold D for more than one second. To end a call, press O. answer a call To answer an incoming call, press N. main attractions You can do much more with your phone than make and receive calls! This section describes some of your phone’s highlights. zoom number display Zoom number display is a smart function that lets you see the enlarged font size of the numbers on the screen, depending on how many digits are in the dialed number. Because most people enter seven digits most frequently, your font size is large most of the time and becomes smaller only when necessary.
viewing by the week add a new event When you open the datebook, your phone displays a calendar for the week. Lines or filled boxes under each day indicate scheduled events. You can add a new event in two different ways. view by day or Select a day in the week view and press VIEW to see the day's events. You can store, edit, view, copy, and delete any event from the day view.

FM radio Plugging in the headset changes MYMENU to RADIO in the home screen. Press RADIO to turn the FM Radio on. Press again to turn it off. When activated, press S left or right to adjust the frequency. Press S up or down to adjust the volume. Press SPKR ON to play the FM Radio through the speaker. Press SPKR OFF to play it through the headset. select a radio preset Press number keys to select the corresponding radio preset.
multi-letter phonebook search There are two Phonebook search methods, search by Find, and search by Jump. To define the search method: Find it: Press M > Phonebook > M > Search By > Find or Jump search by jump Press a keypad key 1 or more times to jump to entries that begin with the key’s letters. Press a second letter to jump to entries beginning with the two letters you entered. You can enter up to three letters.

To dial a number from the home screen, use the keypad keys to enter the number and press N. Note: Your home screen may look different from the one shown here, depending on your service provider. This icon can also indicate your text entry mode (ie. alpha, numeric, symbol and etc). 4 In Use Indicator – Indicates when a call is in progress, and when you have a secure or insecure connection. 5 Message Indicator – Appears when you have a new voice or text message.
6 Alert Type Indicator – Displays your alert type setting. = Loud Ring = Soft Ring = Vibrate = Vibe then Ring = Silent status icons The status icons show the status of incoming calls, messages, and the battery. Battery Icon 7 Battery Level Indicator – Shows the amount of charge left in your battery. The more bars present, the greater the charge. 8 Radio Function Indicator– Indicates that the radio function is available.
alert/Icon call icon Icon rapidly flashes green for incoming calls from a known caller, and slowly flashes green when there is a missed call from a known caller. Icon rapidly flashes orange for incoming calls from an unknown caller, and slowly flashes orange when there is a missed call from an unknown caller. message icon Icon flashes blue when there is a new text or voice message. battery icon Icon flashes orange when the battery power is low, and is continually lit when the battery is charging.

text entry text entry mode Some features let you enter text. Press to change entry method. Press CANCEL to abort the message. iTAP™ Numeric Symbol 32 basics • Tap Extended Your Tap entry modes include: • iTAP English Numeric mode ( ) enters numbers only. Symbol mode ( ) enters symbols only.
iTAP™ mode Press M in a text entry screen to select and switch to iTAP mode. iTAP mode lets you enter words using one key press per letter. When iTAP is selected, displays on the home screen. The iTAP software combines your key presses into common words, and predicts each word as you enter it. For example, if you press 2775, your phone displays a list of word combination such as appl, aspj, and aspk. When you enter three or more characters in a row, your phone will guess the rest of the word.
tap mode volume Press M in a text entry screen and select Tap mode. To enter text in tap mode, press a keypad key repeatedly to cycle through the letters and number on the key. Repeat this step to enter each letter. During a call, there are three answering modes for you to adjust the volume: Normal, Earpiece, and Speaker On. During a call, you can adjust the volume of the earpiece by pressing S right to increase and left to decrease or by pressing the side up/down key.
navigation key restrict calls Press the navigation key S up or down to highlight menu items, change feature settings, and play games. Press SELECT to choose a highlighted menu item. You can set Restrict Calls as Allow All, Allow Phonebook, and Allow None. codes & passwords To change your 4-digit codes or passwords: Find it: Press M > Settings > Security > New Passwords Need to enter the password (1234) to change.
customize ring style Your phone rings and/or vibrates to notify you of an incoming call, message or other event. There are five ring types in your phone: Loud Ring, Soft Ring, Vibrate, Vibe then Ring, and Silent.
time & date screen saver To set the time and date format for your phone: To set a screen saver for your phone: Find it: Press M > Settings > Initial Setup > Time and Date Find it: Press M > Settings > Personalize > Screen Saver > Picture animation This phone comes with several preloaded screen savers (None, Coastal, Drift, Dream, Quirky, Amuse). To set the screen saver delay time: Your phone plays an animation when it is powered on.
answer options You can use additional, alternative methods to answer an incoming call. To activate or deactivate an answer option: Find it: Press M > Settings > In-Call Setup > Answer Option option Any Key Send Key Only Open to Answer 38 Answer by pressing any key. Answer by pressing N. Answer by opening the phone.
calls This chapter describes features related to making and answering calls. 2 Highlight a call. A marker next to a call means the call connected. • To call the number, press N. recent calls Your phone keeps lists of incoming and outgoing calls, even for calls that didn't connect. The most recent calls are listed first. The oldest calls are deleted as new calls are added. • To see call details (like time and date), press the VIEW.
speed dialing mute a call Once a phone number is stored in your Phonebook, you can access and dial that number using assigned speed dial keys. When you are on a call, press M > Mute. Enter the location number of a stored number and press #. The phone will then automatically connect to that number. Press N to dial the number. return a call Your phone keeps a record of your unanswered calls, and displays Missed Calls on the screen. 1 Press VIEW to see the Missed Calls list.
emergency calls Your service provider programs one or more emergency phone numbers (such as 112 or 911) that you can call under any circumstances, even if the RUIM card is not inserted. You can dial and call the emergency number even when your phone is locked, when you are prompted to enter a code or password. Note: Emergency numbers vary with different countries.
voicemail special characters You can listen to your voicemail messages by calling your network voicemail phone number. Voicemail messages are stored on the network—not on your phone. Contact your service provider for more details. In addition to pressing numbers on your keypad, you can insert special characters in a phone number.
