Asynchronous Operating Commands
Response messages may be sent to the DTE at the
DTE rate or the current DCE rate. Refer to S39 in
Chapter 6 for further information.
Call Progress and
Connect Speed

The X command selects connect / message displays
and dialing options such as call progress monitoring,
busy signal or dial tone detection and blind dialing.

X followed by a dial command causes the modem to
go off hook, wait the amount of time set in register
S6, and dial the number. If connection is made the
modem returns a CONNECT (code 1) message to the
screen regardless of the speed of connection. With a
basic response, the modem will not detect a busy or
no dial tone condition.
