Inserting Messaging Emoticons
This feature allows you to insert emoticons into a text message. The emoticons
are selected from a predefined list.
Note: Icon Messaging must be turned on in the Message Settings in order to use
this feature, see page 75 for more information.
Emoticons can be inserted into a message in 2 ways:
• Type a space, type the 3 ASCII characters that represent the icon, then type
another space (see the Messaging Emoticons table on page 43). For example,
type :-) for a smiley face.
• Or, while in the Message Editor:
1. Press ™ and select Insert Picture.
2. Two rows of icons are shown on the screen. Use
! to scroll to additional
rows to see more icons.
3. Select the icon and press
(. The icon is shown as its ASCII
representation. The Message Editor automatically inserts a space before and
after the icon.
Because icons must be preceded and followed by a space, each icon counts as
5 characters toward the 160-character message limit (3 characters and 2 space
characters).
