D.1 Adopted AP300 Sensor Conversion
As enterprises become increasingly mobile and wireless networks more pervasive, security has become an
increasing concern and is central for IT organizations. IT professionals are faced with keeping wireless
networks up, running at peak levels, preserving network integrity and protecting digital assets from theft and
misuse, all while complying with government and financial regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and
VISA-CISP.
Motorola's AirDefense solution provides enterprises with the tools to continuously safeguard WLANs from
external threats and provide continuous performance monitoring. The AirDefense Enterprise server system
notifies IT staff when network vulnerabilities, attacks or performance issues occur in real-time allowing for
proactive response.
This section provides an overview of how to configure the RF Switch to convert AP300 Access Ports into
sensors and revert AP300 sensors back to Access Ports.
The Motorola AirDefense solution seamlessly integrates with the Motorola switches and AP300 Access
Ports in the following ways:
• AP300s can be converted into dedicated AirDefense sensors
• The AirDefense Enterprise server can detect and trust APs managed by the RF Switch
• The AirDefense Enterprise server can blacklist suspicious clients by creating wireless filters on the RF
Switch
