4-162 Motorola RF Switch System Reference Guide
To view and potentially modify an IGMP snooping querier configuration:
1. Select Network > IGMP Snooping from the main menu tree.
2. Select the IGMP Snoop Querier Config tab.
3. Refer to the Igmp Snoop Querier Global Config field and define the following values, once enabled
these values display within the Igmp Snoop Querier Vlan Config field:
NOTE: IGMP snooping does not detect link layer topology. The only thing it can detect is
that a query loss has happened and activates the IGMP querier if enabled in the
configuration.
Max Response Time
(1 - 25) Secs
Defines the maximum response time for the switch to receive a report. If the switch
does not receive a report, it discards this port. If it receives a response from a
wireless client it updates it’s IGMP snoop table with the reported multicast group
membership. In case of IGMP reports from wired ports, it simply forwards to
multicast router ports, as IGMP snooping is conducted only for wireless clients and
all wired ports are flooded for multicast packets.
Version Define the igmpV1, igmpV2 or igmpV3 version from the drop-down menu.
Ip Address Displays the configured querier IP address on the switch used while generating the
general IGMP query.
Present Timeout
(60 -300) Secs
The snooping switch does not rely on IGMP group leave announcements to
determine when entries should be removed from the forwarding table. It
implements a last membership query mechanism (such as the router-side
functionality of the IGMP protocol as described in the IGMP and MLD
specifications) on all its non-router ports. Define a timeout value as required
between 60 - 300 seconds. Hosts that have silently opted out without sending a
leave message are discarded if they do not respond with join/reports on the next
query interval.
