GETTING STARTED 2 GETTING STARTED CAUTION: Before using the phone for the first time, read the important safety and legal information in the separate legal information included in the box. Battery Tips Battery life depends on the network, signal strength, temperature, features, and accessories you use. • Always use Motorola Original batteries and battery chargers. The warranty does not cover damage caused by non-Motorola batteries and/or chargers.
GETTING STARTED Charging the Battery Turning Your Phone On New batteries are shipped partially charged. Before you can use your phone, install and charge the battery as described below. Some batteries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. 1. Open your phone. 2. Press and hold the power key for 3 seconds. 3. If necessary, enter your 4-digit unlock code (the last 4 digits of your phone number) and press the right soft key to unlock the phone. To charge the battery: 1.
• Press P to end the call and “hang up” the phone when you are finished. -or• Close the flip. With your phone powered off: 1. Press in the battery door, release latch, and remove the battery door. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Slide the memory card out of the card slot as shown. Be sure the card is fully inserted. 4. Replace the battery and the battery door. Removing the Memory Card CAUTION: Do not remove the memory card while reading or writing files. Otherwise, it could be damaged.

Enjoy Your Music Pick Songs After you download a song or start a music subscription, use the Media Player to play your music. 1. Go to My Stuff. You can select any of the following methods to play your music: 2. Select Music. 3. Select the method you want to use to play your songs (see the table below). Option Description Shuffle Play all songs on your phone in random sequence. Artist Display an alphabetical list of artists whose songs are on your phone.
Using the Media Player After you select the songs you want to play, use the Media Player to control playback. Option Description Play/Pause Press the Center Select Key C to play a song. While a song is playing, press C to pause it. Press C again to continue playing it. Stop Press S up to turn off the song. The next time you play the song, it will start at the beginning. Next Press S right to skip ahead to the next song. Restart Press S left to restart a song from the beginning.
Organize Your Music My Stuff includes a built-in playlist called MyList. You can change MyList by adding, deleting, or moving songs on your phone. You can create and manage additional playlists on your computer and then copy them to your phone. 3. Select the category where you expect to find the video you want to play. 4. Select the title you want to play. 5. Press the Center Select Key C to play the video. Use the Media Player to control video playback. To add a song to MyList: Play Games 1.
Change Tones & Graphics Cancel a Subscription Tones & Graphics is where you personalize your phone by setting its ringtone, wallpaper, and screen saver: You can cancel a subscription directly from your phone or by going to www.ampd.ca. To cancel from your phone: 1. Go to My Stuff. 1. Go to My Stuff. 2. Select Tones & Graphics. 3. Select the type of item you want to change. 4. Select the item you want to use. 5. Press the Center Select Key C to preview the item.

Get Help Online To get help online, go to www.ampd.ca and select Customer Care at the bottom of the page. 1. Press the camera key b to take a photo. -orPress the Center Select Key C. 2. Press Options to view storage options: Store Only, Apply as Wallpaper, Apply as Screensaver or Apply as Phonebook Entry. If you choose to store the photo, continue to step 3. -orPress the B key to delete the photo and return to the active viewfinder.

Videos Menu Options When the Video Camera is active, press Options to open the Videos Menu. Choosing a Text Entry Method Using Capitalization Multiple text entry methods make it easy for you to enter names, numbers, and messages. The method you select remains active until you select another mode. Press 0 in any text entry screen to change text case.
Using Tap Method This is the standard method for entering text on your phone. Tap method cycles through the letters and numbers of the key you press. Entering Words In a text entry screen, you can press * to switch entry methods. An indicator shows which method is active (see page 29). 1. Press keypad keys (1 press per letter) to show possible letter combinations at the bottom of the display. 2. Press S left or right to highlight the combination you want. 3. Press Select key to lock a highlighted combination. You can press keypad keys to add more letters to the end of the combination. -orPress # to enter the highlighted combination when it spells a word.
Deleting Letters and Words Place the cursor to the right of the text you want to delete, then: 1. Press the B key to delete 1 letter at a time. 2. Hold the B key to delete all the text, 1 word at a time. • The memory card is recognized as removable memory when connected to a personal computer. • When you disconnect the phone with the memory card from a personal computer, remove the USB storage equipment on your personal computer. Otherwise, files stored on the memory card could be damaged.
3. When the phone is completely powered on, press Menu. 4. Scroll to Phone Status and press the Select key. 5. Scroll to Storage Devices and press the Select key. 6. Scroll to Trans T-Flash and press the Options key. 7. Scroll to Format and press the Select key. The phone displays Formatting will erase all data. 8. Press the Yes key to begin formatting the memory card. -orPress the No key to exit without formatting the card.

To change a code or password: Press Menu > Settings > Security > New Passwords Locking and Unlocking Your Phone You can lock your phone manually or set the phone to lock automatically whenever you turn it off. To use a locked phone, you must enter the unlock code. A locked phone still rings or vibrates for incoming calls or messages, but you must unlock it to answer. You can make emergency calls on your phone even when it is locked.

Tip: Set the resolution to the Low setting on your camera when taking pictures to be applied as wallpaper. Low resolution photos display best when applied as Fitto-Screen as wallpaper. 9. Press Back key to save the screen saver settings. Setting a Screen Saver Image Adjusting the Backlight Set a photo, picture, or animation as a screen saver image.

Changing the Active Line Change the active phone line to make and receive calls from your other phone number. Press Menu > Phone Status > Active Line Redialing a Number 1. Press N to view the Recent Calls list. 2. Press S to scroll to the entry you want to call. 3. Press N to redial the number. Press either volume key to turn off the alert for a current incoming call.

Using the Notepad The Last Calls Menu can include the following options: The most recent set of digits entered on the keypad are stored in your phone’s notepad memory. This can be a phone number that you called, or a number that you entered but did not call.
Calling with 1-Touch Dial Using DTMF Tones To call Contacts entries 1 through 9, press and hold the single-digit speed dial number for 1 second. You can send numbers to the network as dual tone multi-frequency (DTMF) tones during a call. Use DTMF tones to communicate with automated systems that require you to submit a PIN code, password, or credit card number. Using Voicemail Voicemail messages that you receive are stored on the network.

Personalizing Features Using Speech Commands You can place calls and perform other tasks by speaking commands to your phone. 1. Press and release the voice button on the right side of the phone.
