Missed Operations Normal/Approach Call/ Departure Call
Aircraft
If the aircraft fails to contact the UNHAS radio room for its scheduled call, the pilots
will select an alternate frequency, and endeavour to contact another radio room listed
by the UN, to relay a message to the UNHAS radio room. All efforts are to be made
in re-establishing contact.
UNHAS Radio Room
In cases where the aircraft is unable to establish contact with the radio room, the radio
operators will:
Note this, and stay alert for a possible delayed call from the aircraft or a relay
from another station.
After an aircraft has missed one call, and the next due call has not been
received, immediate notification is to be given by the UNHAS radio room to
the Flight Operations Office (FOO) of UNHAS by phone and email.
Inform the Officer on Duty who will monitor the situation and take the
required action as appropriate and in accordance to the established procedures.
(Full SAR procedures will be executed by FOO of UNHAS in accordance
with the UNHAS Emergency Response plan).
UNHAS OFS
The UNHAS OFS (Operating Field Station) is to:
Call the radio room and advise if the aircraft is not arriving within 10 minutes
of the ETA.
Ensure communications lines remain open with the UNHAS radio room.
