HF Radio Equipment
General Care
• Avoid physical abuse of the radio.
• Check connections, antenna, power supply etc, regularly.
• Clean the radio exterior using a cloth moistened with water or mild dish
washing liquid.
Codan NGT HF Handset
Be aware of the significance of the following buttons on the Codan HF transceiver.
Base station sets have the same handset with holding tray containing loudspeaker,
external microphone and easy to use command buttons.
• On/Off Button () Turns the radio on and off.
• Emergency Button ( ) Not programmed in WFP radios.
• Call ( ) Starts a selcall on the selected channel.
• Scan/Hang Up ( ) Starts/stops the transceiver scanning the
selected. channels for incoming calls. Scan allows you to monitor various
channels – for example, all the WFP regional channels. It is important to
understand the significance of the scanning system.

) Turns the volume up or down on the transceiver.
• Find ( ) Displays Find function, locate channels quickly.
• Cancel (X) Remove messages on the screen, cancel
changes, display the home screen, and answer No to prompts.
• Mode USB/LSB (3) Changes between USB & LSB. Normally left
in the USB mode. Display indicates the selected sideband.
• Clarifier (2) Turns clarifier On/Off. Use scroll key to adjust.
• Call Log(#) Displays the Calls In and Calls Out logs.
• Easy Talk (Ã) Toggles between On/Off, reduces background
noise.
• V/S Mute toggle (7) Toggles between Selcall mute and voice mute.
• Manual Tune (1) Manually adjusts the antenna tuner in mobile
configuration (i.e; matches the tuning unit to the frequency).
• Select ( ) Saves changes and answers Yes to prompts.
• Scroll Key ( ) Scroll through items in a list.
• Mute ( ) Switch mute on or off.
• PTT Used to communicate during voice calls, switch
mute off, cancel voice calls prior to the point where voice can be
transmitted, cancel calls where data is being transmitted, and exit out of
screens without saving changes.
