Keys a few essentials Menu navigation 1 From the home screen, press Menu (right soft key) to open the app menu. Adjust volume Press the volume keys on the side of your phone to change the ring volume (in the home screen), or the earpiece volume (during a call). When playing music or video files, press the volume keys to adjust media volume.

It’s what you see when you turn on the phone or press Power/End from a menu. App menu All the apps on your phone are shown in your app menu. To open the app menu from the home screen, press Menu (right soft key) or . Press up, down, left, or right to highlight a menu option, then press to select the highlighted option. You can press Power/ End to return to the home screen at any time. Phone status & notifications The status bar at the top of the screen contains icons that tell you about messages and phone status.
Calls it’s good to talk In-call options During a call, press Options to hold, end, make a new call, and more. Press Mute to mute your call. Press to turn the handsfree speakerphone on, and press again to turn the speakerphone off. Note: Using a mobile device or accessory while driving may cause distraction and may be illegal. Emergency calls Note: Your service provider programs one or more emergency phone numbers (such as 911 or 112) that you can call under any circumstances, even when your phone is locked. Emergency numbers vary by country. Your pre-programmed emergency number(s) may not work in all locations, and sometimes an emergency call cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or interference issues. 1 Enter the emergency number in the home screen. 2 Press Call to call the emergency number.

Messaging sometimes it’s best to text or email... Create & send messages Find it: > Messaging > Write message Use the keypad to enter your message. Press Options to insert a picture, sound, or video. When you finish composing the message, press Options > Send to to enter phone numbers or select message recipients from your phonebook. To send the message, press Options > Send.
Email Set up an account Messaging > Email > Email accounts, Find it: > press Options > New account > Yes The email setup wizard will guide you through setting up your email account. Photos see it, capture it, share it! Take & share photos Take that family photo, and send it to everyone. Find it: Press Camera Your phone shows the camera viewfinder. Press left/right to increase/decrease exposure. EV 0 Press to take a photo. Select to return to the home screen. Select to switch to photo album or video recorder. Note: Image size is 3MP, unless you change it.
To take the photo, press Camera or . Your phone saves the photo, and shows the photo in the screen. Press the left soft key, then: • To send the photo in a message, email, or over a Bluetooth® connection, select Forward. • To edit the photo, select Photo editor. • To delete the photo and return to the viewfinder, select Delete. To see photos you’ve taken, go to the camera viewfinder screen and press the left soft key, then select Switch to > Photo album.
Web surf the web with your phone Note: To use the browser, you must have data service activated for your account (additional fees may apply for this service). Use your phone’s browser to surf your favorite Web sites, upload videos to a video blog, and download files and applications to your phone. Log onto your internet-based email account to check your email. Find it: > Internet > Internet service To... Go to your home page Select Homepage. Go to a web page Select Input address.

Personalize add your personal touch Profiles Your phone has different profiles. You can customize ringtones, alerts, and volumes for each profile. Find it: > User profiles You can select these profiles: profiles General Standard profile default setting. Silent Ringtone is off, vibrate is off. Outdoor Ringtone and key tone volume are set to maximum. Indoor Ringtone is on, vibrate is off. Vibration Vibrate is on.
To change a profile’s settings, press Options > Customize. You can adjust these settings: settings Tone settings Set ringtones for incoming calls, messages, key tones, and other events. Volume Set the volume for ringtones and key tones. Alert type Set to Ring only, Vib. only, Vib. and ring, Vib. then ring, or Silent. Ring type Set to Single, Repeat, or Ascending. Extra tone Play an extra tone for Warning, Error, Camp on, and Connect. Answer options Set to answer calls by pressing any key.

Manage your life stay on top of things Calendar Find it: > Organizer > Calendar To view your calendar in different ways, press Options > Jump to date or Go to weekly view. Add calendar events From any calendar view, press Options > Add event > Reminder, Meeting or Course. Enter event details and press Options > Done > Yes. Edit calendar events To edit an event, press Options > View > Options > Edit. Edit event details, then when you’re done, press Done > Yes.
Alarm Find it: > Organizer > Alarm To turn on an alarm, highlight it and press On and press . , scroll to When an alarm sounds, press Stop to turn it off or Snooze to delay. To set a snooze period, highlight the alarm, then press Edit > Snooze (min). To set FM radio as your alarm, highlight the alarm, then press Edit > Alarm tone > FM radio.
Airplane mode Use airplane mode to turn off all your wireless connections—useful when flying. Settings > Phone settings Find it: > > Flight mode > Flight mode or Normal mode Note: When you select airplane mode, all wireless services are disabled. You can then turn Bluetooth® back on, if permitted by your airline. Other wireless voice and data services (such as calls and text messages) remain off in airplane mode. Emergency calls to your region's emergency number (e.g., 911) can still made.
Bluetooth® wireless lose the wires and go wireless Turn Bluetooth power on or off Find it: > Power > Settings > Connectivity > Bluetooth When Bluetooth power is on, the Bluetooth indicator appears in the home screen. Note: To extend battery life, turn off Bluetooth power when not in use. Connect new devices To connect with a new device, you need to pair with it. You only need to do this once for each device—to connect again, see “Reconnect devices” on page 36.

Memory card & USB load music, photos, and more on your phone microSD Memory card To format your memory card, press File manager > Memory card > Format. > Warning: When you format a memory card, all data on the card is deleted. To see files stored on your memory card, press File manager > Memory card > Open. > To copy or move a file from your phone to your memory card: 1 Press > File manager > Phone > Open. 2 Select the file, then select Copy or Move. 3 Select Memory card > Open.
USB drag & drop Note: This feature requires an optional accessory. You can drag & drop your pictures, videos, music, and more from your computer to your phone’s memory card. Note: Copyright—do you have the right? Always follow the rules. See “Content Copyright” in your legal and safety information. Note: When your phone is connected to a computer, it cannot be used for anything else, including making emergency calls. To restore the phone to normal use, disconnect it from the computer.

Security help keep your phone safe Codes & passwords Your phone password is originally set to 1234. If your service provider didn’t change the phone password, you should change it. Settings > Security settings Find it: > > Change password > Phone password. You can also change your SIM card PIN and PIN2 codes. If you forget your phone password: At the Input password prompt, try entering 1234 or the last four digits of your phone number. If that doesn’t work, contact your service provider.
Lock keypad Find it: > Settings > Security settings > Auto keypad lock > None, 5 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, or 5 min You can lock your phone’s keypad and keys to prevent unwanted phone operations. Your phone automatically locks the keypad and keys when no activity is detected for the specified interval. To unlock the keypad and keys, press Unlock then .
Troubleshooting we’re here to help Crash recovery In the unlikely event that your phone stops responding to key presses, try a quick reset. Remove the back cover and battery (“Assemble & charge” on page 5), then replace and turn on your phone as usual. Reset Reset default factory settings on your phone.

Safety, Regulatory & Legal Battery Use & Safety Important: Handle and store batteries properly to avoid injury or damage. Most battery issues arise from improper handling of batteries, and particularly from the continued use of damaged batteries. Consumers should confirm that any battery they purchase has a “Motorola Original” hologram. Motorola recommends you always use Motorola-branded batteries and chargers.
Battery Charging Notes for charging your product’s battery: • During charging, keep your battery and charger near room temperature for efficient battery charging. • New batteries are not fully charged. • New batteries or batteries stored for a long time may take more time to charge. • Motorola batteries and charging systems have circuitry that protects the battery from damage from overcharging.
Seizures/Blackouts Some people may be susceptible to epileptic seizures or blackouts when exposed to flashing lights, such as when playing videos or games. These may occur even if a person has never had a previous seizure or blackout. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts, or if you have a family history of such occurrences, please consult with your physician before playing videos or games or enabling a flashing-lights feature (if available) on your mobile device.
Small Children Keep your mobile device and its accessories away from small children. These products are not toys and may be hazardous to small children. For example: • A choking hazard may exist for small, detachable parts. • Improper use could result in loud sounds, possibly causing hearing injury. • Improperly handled batteries could overheat and cause a burn. Glass Parts Some parts of your mobile device may be made of glass.
