Series logic boards have 8
MB of soldered DRAM. You can
expand the memory to a total
of 264 MB by installing
DRAM SIMMs.
The Power Macintosh 8100
operates in 32-bit mode only
and cannot be toggled back to
24-bit mode.
VRAM Note: VRAM may be expanded to 4
MB on a Power Macintosh 8100 Series logic
board by inserting four 68-pin, 80 ns
SIMMs in connectors on the video card.

Note: SIMMs must be installed in pairs, and
both SIMMs in the pair must be of the same
size; Failure to do so will result in the Power
Mac thinking both SIMMs are of the (wrong)
density. System crashes are possible in this
situation.
You can install different size SIMMs just as
long as you install them in matched pairs; for
example, you could install a pair of 8 MB
SIMMs and a pair of 32 MB SIMMs.
