iMac, iMac DV, and iMac DV
Special Edition
Unlike earlier iMac computers, the iMac,
iMac DV and iMac DV Special Editions use
standard PC-100 DIMMs. There are two
DIMMs slots accessible from the bottom of
the computer. The maximum DIMM size for
each slot is 256 MB, for a total of 512 MB.
Compatible DRAM DIMMs criteria:
• PC-100 Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM)
• 3.3 volt
• 64-bit wide, 168-pin module
• Maximum of 16 memory devices on the
DIMM
• Unbuffered; do not use registered or
buffered Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM)

DRAM Configurations
0 Zero MB of memory is soldered
to the logic board. If the two
DIMM slots are empty, the
machine will not operate.
64 MB The base model iMac and the
iMac DV logic boards come
standard with one 64 MB
PC-100 SDRAM DIMM. These
computers are expandable to
512MB (use two 256 MB PC-
100 DIMMs).
128 MB The iMac DV Special Edition
comes standard with one 128
PC-100 SDRAM DIMM. The
iMac DV Special Edition is
expandable to 512MB (use two
256 MB PC-100 DIMMs).
