Specifications
Memory Quadra/Centris - 8
Quadra/Centris 650
The Centris 650 shipped with
4 MB of soldered DRAM, and
the Quadra 650 with 8MB of
soldered DRAM. Total
memory can be expanded to
132 MB and 136 MB
respectively.
Note:
The 650 has a flexible
memory system, meaning
that any supported SIMM size
can go into any SIMM slot in
any order, and they can run
with partially populated
banks.
IMPORTANT
: Do not use composite SIMMs
in the Centris/Quadra 650.
Note:
The 650 does
support 1, 2, or
64 MB SIMMs.

The Centris/Quadra 650 uses “memory
interleaving” which occurs when like SIMM
pairs are used (for example: two 8MB
SIMMs). Basically, it allows the memory
subsystem to write to the same memory
address in different banks of memory before
incrementing the address. Depending on how
memory intensive the application is, memory
interleaving can improve performance 5% to
10%.
Note:
Use 80 ns or faster VRAM SIMMs.
