BSR 64000 Configuration and Management Guide
5-4
Follow these steps to assign an IP address and subnetwork mask to an interface on a
module:
1. To identify where the module is in the chassis, use the show chassis status
command in Privileged EXEC mode, as shown below:
MOT#show chassis status
2. Determine the slot number of the module.
3. Use the configure command in Privileged EXEC mode to enter Global
Configuration mode, as shown below:
MOT#configure
4. To enter an interface, use the interface command in Global Configuration mode,
as shown in the following example:
MOT(config)#interface {pos | ethernet | gigaether | cable} <x>/<y>
where:
pos is the Packet over SONET interface.
ethernet is any 10 or 10/100 Ethernet interface.
gigaether is the Gigabit Ethernet interface
cable is any DOCSIS interface.
x is the desired module slot on the BSR.
y is the interface number on the module.
5. Use the ip address command to set a primary IP address and subnetwork mask
for an interface, as shown below:
MOT(config-if)#ip address <A.B.C.D> <net-mask>
where:
A.B.C.D is the IP address of the interface.
Note: There is only one cable interface per module. The cable interface is
always 0.
