Conventional Features
Smart PTT
Smart PTT is a feature that can be programmed for modes according
to your needs and/or the needs of your workgroup. This gives the
system manager better control of radio operations. You may notice
two differences in radio operation while on a mode programmed for
Smart PTT:
• You will not be able to transmit and will hear a continuous alert
tone until you release the PTT button. If the red LED flashes when
the radio is receiving, this indicates the mode is busy.
• The monitor function is disabled.
Three radio-wide variations of smart PTT can be enabled on your
radio:
Transmit Inhibit on Busy
Channel
You will not be able to transmit if any traffic is
detected on the mode.
Transmit Inhibit on Busy
Mode with Wrong
Squelch Code feature
You will not be able to transmit on an active
mode with a squelch code other than your own;
or with an encryption key other than your own if
your radio is secure-equipped. You can transmit
if the PL code is the same as yours.
Quick-Key Override This feature can work with variation 1 or 2. You
can override transmit-inhibit by quick-keying the
radio; in other words, pressing the PTT button
twice within the time programmed for Smart
PTT Quick-Key Timer. (The default value is
half a second).
