Although a vertically polarized signal propagates better than a horizontally polarized signal (because of the
magnetic field of the earth), vertical polarization is typically better for long distance only where noise
above the thermal noise floor is negligible. In some applications, cross polarization may improve signal
separation, but typically to only 9 dB of separation at 900 MHz and 15 to 20 dB in the 5.n-GHz frequency
band ranges.
