VLAN Port Type
By default this will be simply Q, indicating that it is to operate in the existing manner. The other
option is Q-in-Q, which indicates that it should be adding and removing the S-Tag, and adding a
C-Tag if necessary for untagged packets. The VLAN Port type corresponds to the Ethernet port of
the BHS. Currently, the internal management interfaces will always operate as Q ports.
Accept QinQ Frames
This option is valid for the Q-in-Q port so that the user may force blocking of existing 802.1ad Q-
in-Q frames. This way, only untagged or single tagged packets will come in and out of the
Ethernet interface. If a Q-in-Q frame is about ingress or egress the Ethernet interface and this is
disabled, it will be dropped and a filter entry will show up on the VLAN Statistics page as
DVLAN Egress or DVLAN Ingress.
Management VID
Enter the VID that the operator wishes to use to communicate with the module manager. The
range of values is 1 to 4094. The default value is 1. This text box is inactive if VLAN is set to
Disabled. In the Cambium fixed wireless broadband IP network, each device of any type is
automatically a permanent member of VID 1. This facilitates deployment of devices that have
VLAN enabled with those that do not.
Default Port VID
If an untagged packet arrives at the BHM with a Port VID configured, when that packet egresses
the other end of the backhaul link it will be an 802.1Q tagged packet whose VID is equal to the
Port VID of the device from where the packet entered the backhaul pair.
As is the case with PMP VLAN, a VID of 1 is a special case VLAN which means that an untagged
packet coming into a backhaul unit with a Port VID of 1 will exit the other side of the backhaul
link untagged. Also if a tagged packet containing a VID equal to the Port VID is about to exit the
Ethernet port of the backhaul module , that tag will be removed and the packet will be sent
untagged.
Active Configuration
The Active Configuration block provides the following details as read-only information in this tab.
Active Configuration Untagged Ingress VID
In a backhaul module, this value will always be 1. This facilitates deployment of devices that have
VLAN enabled with those that do not.
