Sending a Silent Emergency Alarm
This feature allows you to send an Emergency Alarm to another
radio without any audio or visual indicators.
Procedure:
1 Press the preprogrammed Emergency button.
2 The display shows no changes, the LED does not light up,
and you hear no tones.
3 The silent emergency state continues until you:
Press and hold the preprogrammed Emergency button for
about a second to exit the Silent Emergency Alarm mode.
OR
Press and release the PTT button to exit the Silent
Emergency Alarm mode and enter regular dispatch or
Emergency Call mode.
Note: For ALL Emergency signals, when changing channels:
• If the new channel is also preprogrammed for
Emergency, you can change channels while in
Emergency operation. The emergency alarm or call
continues on the new channel.
• If the new channel is NOT preprogrammed for
Emergency, the display shows NO EMERG, and you
hear an invalid tone until you exit the Emergency
state or change to a channel preprogrammed for
Emergency.
Using the Emergency Keep-Alive Feature
This feature, when enabled, prevents the radio from being
turned off via the On/Off Control knob when the radio is in the
Emergency state.
Note: The radio only exits the Emergency state using one of
the ways mentioned in the previous sections.
See Sending an Emergency Alarm on page 29,
Sending an Emergency Call (Trunking Only) on
page 29, Sending an Emergency Alarm with
Emergency Call on page 30, or Sending a Silent
Emergency Alarm on page 31.
