Cleaning
To clean the external surfaces of your radio:
1 Combine one teaspoon of mild dishwashing detergent to one
gallon of water (0.5% solution).
2 Apply the solution sparingly with a stiff, non-metallic, short-
bristled brush, making sure excess detergent does not get
entrapped near the connectors, controls or crevices. Dry the radio
thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
3 Clean battery contacts with a lint-free cloth to remove dirt or
grease.
Handling
• Do not pound, drop, or throw the radio unnecessarily. Never carry
the radio by the antenna.
• Avoid subjecting the radio to an excess of liquids. Do not
submerge the radio unless it is a ruggedized, XTS 5000 R model.
• Avoid subjecting the radio to corrosives, solvents or spirits.
• Do not disassemble the radio.
• Keep the accessory-connector cover in place until ready to use the
connector. Replace the cover immediately once the accessory has
been disconnected.
Do not use solvents to clean your radio. Spirits
may permanently damage the radio housing.
Do not submerge the radio in the detergent
solution.
