Establishing A Common Ground
Connect the trolling motor and main engine accessories to the
same negative ground terminal. A common ground connection
increases sonar sensitivity and improves the sonar display. Not
establishing a common ground may cause severe corrosion or
electrolysis.

CAUTION
Disconnecting or connecting the battery cables in the incorrect
order can cause injury from electrical shock or can damage the
electrical system. Always disconnect the negative (‑) battery
cable first and connect it last.
