Barcode scanner tips
• You’ll typically get the best scans if the lens is six to seven inches from the barcode.
• If you’re having trouble scanning a barcode, use two hands to steady the tablet while
you scan.
Using the RFID reader
Your Tablet PC may include an integrated 13.56 MHz RFID reader that you can use to
retrieve information from RFID tags. Motion provides a sample application capable of
reading these tags.
The R12 RFID reader supports the following formats:
• ISO/IEC 14443A/B
• ISO/IEC 15693
• MiFare Classic
To access the Motion sample RFID reader application:
1. From the Start menu, select All Programs > Motion Computing > Motion RFID Utility
> MCRFID.
To use the RFID reader:
1. Hold the R12 as shown in the photo.
2. Aim the Tablet PC at the RFID tag and ensure that the tag is 1–1.5 inches (25–40 mm)
from the RFID antenna scan area.
The RFID light goes off and the unit beeps to indicate a successful scan. The ASCII and Hex
data appears in the RFID Tag Data window.
