3.20 Attaching the Lamp housing
WARNING
The bulb, the lamp socket and areas near these will be extremely hot during and right after use. Set the
main switch off; disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, then wait until lamp housing has cooled
down before removing the Lamp housing.
Ɣ Loosen the clamping screw (Fig. 41-1.1) with provided Allen screwdriver.
Ɣ Mount the lamp housing to the connection port (Fig. 41-1.2) on the rear of the illuminator and press
the lamphousing as far as it goes.
Ɣ Tightened the clamping screw (Fig. 41-1.1) with provided Allen screwdriver.
Ɣ Plug the cable coming from the lamp housing (Fig. 41-2.1) into the lamp connector (Fig. 41-2.2) on
the rear ofthemicroscope and tighten the ring of the connector to secure the connection.

3.21 Changing the size of the field diaphragm (Fig. 42-1)
Ɣ The field aperture diaphragm determines the illuminated area on the specimen.
Ɣ Pull or Push field diaphragm adjustment lever to change the size of the field aperture diaphragm.
For normal observation, the diaphragm is set just slightly outside the edge of the field ofview.
Ɣ If a larger than required area is illuminated, extraneous light will enter the field of view. This will
create a flare in the image and lower the contrast.
Ɣ Cutting out the excessive light is useful in preventing contrast from being diminished.
Ɣ Decreasing excessive illumination is useful in protecting the specimen from fading.
Ɣ If the field aperture diaphragm is off the centre of the field of view, centre the field aperture
diaphragm with centering hole by Allen key.
