MAINTENANCE & PREVENTION
USE PELLET STYLE SALT
You will need to occassionally add
salt to the salt storage tank of your
water softener to maintain system
performance and functionality. We
recommend using pellet style salt.
Municipal water supplies typically
use the yellow bag salt, but if you
have any iron in your water supply,
you may want to use the green bag
or mix the green and yellow bags
together to keep the inside of the
softener clean. Potassium chloride
pellets is an alternative option for
those on sodium-restricted diets.

Using Morton Water Softener Cleaner can also help
maintain your water softener. This product works with
the salt in your system to remove any contaminants
from the resin bed and valve that could keep your
water softener from running efficiently.
Our cleanser is pre-mixed and ready to use. Pour the
entire 16 oz. bottle of cleanser into the brine well of
your Morton Water Softener. Then press and hold the
regeneration button for three seconds to manually
regenerate the system. We recommend using Morton
Water Softener Cleanser every 4 months.
